Переполняется диск с дампами

Добрый день .

Возникла следующая  проблема . У vCenter 6.5.0.20100 все время переполняется системный диск с дампами (/dev/mapper/core_vg-core) . Как можно отключить сбор дампов ?

ReconfigVM() fails with error message : Invalid configuration for device '1'

$

Source virtual machine is replicated from source VCenter to destination VCenter.

Both VCenters are the same version - either 5.5 or 6.5

During replication process we get VM configuration from source VCenter and transfer that VM configuration to destination side, where ReconfigVM() is called.

Everything works fine, we can replicate VM multiple times... until we change configuration for source VM

Let's say we add one more network adapter

Next time we do replication - ReconfigVM() called on destination side for destination VCenter fails with error message : Invalid configuration for device '1'

Did anyone see that problem ?

Thank you.

Hello,

in all my virtual machines (workstation 7, vmware tools installed, guest systems: xp, 7, server 03, server 08) a DNS lookup takes around 4 seconds! How can I speed this up / fix this? Thanks!

VM Migration

If I'm migrating VM servers to ESXI servers (from one to another) do I need to have free hardware NIC available for the new VMs?  Or is they are on the same subnet can I just double and triple up on the hardware nic with the virtual machines?

View client and dump files - how to disable them?

$

I'm a desktop engineer and looking into the situation that Horizon view client 4.4 can generate a lot of dump files. I noticed these files are stored in C:\ProgramData\VMware\VDM\Dumps as well in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VMware\VDM

These files are around 400-600 mb each and one user had about 40 GB of dump files. Another user has about 20 GB of files.

Is there a way to limit the number of files generated? Or otherwise, to disable the creation all together?

See screenshot below of one user with a number of files in a short period of time

Thanks.

VMWare mit Veeam Backup and Replication

Hallo Zusammen,

Was mache ich falsch? Oder was fehlt den noch?

Danke schon mal im Voraus für euer Hilfe/Support.

Gruss

Can't register vCenter - Http failure response for https://10.80.24.123/api/v1/manage/endpoint?auto=false: 504 Gateway Time-out

Trying to register my vCenter servers with the Skyline systems and I receive the following error:

Http failure response for https://10.80.24.123/api/v1/manage/endpoint?auto=false: 504 Gateway Time-out

10.80.24.123 is the Skyline appliance

If I browse to the URL I receive the following JSON message:

{"type":"unknown","message":"HTTP 405 Method Not Allowed"}

How to display a scripting-object in workflow presentation?

$

0

In my workflow I would like to present to the user a list made up of a scipting-object from my plugin, lets call it "MyObject", by the object name.

At the moment, for the Presentation property of my Workflow:

  • I have created an Input variable of type "String",
  • set it to "Predefined list of answers"
    • bind it to an action that iterates through my list of MyObjects and puts the names of them into an Array. This Array of Strings is then presented to the user.

This works fine.

What I'd rather do is just pass the list of objects straight to Presentation. But when I set this up:

  • make an input variable of type "MyObject",
  • set it to "Predefined list of elements"
    • bind it to an action which returns an Array of "MyObject"

No list is presented to the user, only a clickable "Not Set" text that does nothing.

Although strangely when I run this Workflow in vSphere, a list is presented, but the list is presented as many "[object Object]"s.

How do I make my scriptable-object appear nicely (or at all) in the presentation dropdown without having to iterate through it to extract the names of them? (in both vRO and vSphere)

Best SAN for two R730XD and One R720 and future additions?

$

Hello,

I have been assigned to find a good SAN for our infrastructure at a reasonable price.  We had a consultant tell us what we need but I don't feel like what he recommended was what we need.  How do you have your environment setup?

I currently have:

2 R730XD - 2 quad network cards, 383 GB Ram, 6 TB Storage each.

1 R720XD - 2 quad network cards,96 GB Ram, 5 TB Storage

I want to add a SAN to this environment to leverage shared storage and my vCenter Standard license, and have room to add another server in the future.  I know I will need switches to connect the servers to the array.

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks!

Unable to receive ping response to/from VDR Appliance on a particular host

$

Hi All,

Here is my current configuration and what's not working:

VCenter

     Host 1

          VDR Appliance 1

          VCenter Server

          Multiple Windows Virtual Machines

     Host 2

          VDR Appliance 2

          Multiple Windows Virtual Machines

- VDR Appliance 1 can ping all other machines and hosts and can also be pinged.

- VDR Appliance 2 is unable to ping any other machines or hosts or be pinged itself.  Can ping localhost however.

- If I move VDR Appliance 2 to Host 1 then it can ping all other machines just like VDR Appliance 1 can.

- If I move VDR Appliance 1 to Host 2 then it can't ping all other machines just like VDR Appliance 2 can't.

- VDR Appliance 2 is on the same vSwitch as other Windows virtual machines and they connect fine.

Firstly, is it possible to have 1 VCenter server supporting a VDR Appliance on a separate host or does each VDR Appliance need its own VCenter server on each separate host?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, I'm at a loss as to why a VDR Appliance can't talk on the network whilst sitting under Host 2.

How do I disable IPv6 in ESXi 6.5?

I want to disable IPv6 on a host in ESXI 6.5.  According to this page, I have to navigate to the Host, go to the Configure tab, expand Networking, and select Advanced.  However, when I navigate to the Host, there is no Configure tab anywhere:

wmware.PNG

I found another page that says I have to navigate to the Host, go to the Manage tab, click Networking, and select Advanced.  However, there is no Networking on the Manage tab:

wmware2.PNG

In that Advanced settings section, none of those Keys are related to enabling/disabling IPv6.

I did find the Default TCP/IP stack screen under Networking:

wmware3.PNG

But when I click on Edit settings, it shows this popup, none of which lets me disable IPv6:

How do I disable IPv6 in ESXi 6.5?

Please bring back the console with all functionality.  At least until you can fix the bugs with the web administration and Flash and get it to load faster, fix the not able to type bug, and generally make it a usable product.  Or is this still in beta?

vCenter 6.5 permissions not applying to Active Directory Groups

$
0
0

I'm having trouble using an Active Directory group to give permissions to objects in vCenter.  I can add groups and users from Active Directory to the permissions in vCenter.  However, if I only use an Active Directory group, when the user account that's a member of that group logs into the Web Client ( Flash or HTML5), the inventory in the navigation panes don't work (stuck Loading), and accessing different sections results in "Permission Denied" errors.

But if I add that same user explicitly on the vCenter permissions, everything works as expected.  It would be ideal that user permissions management could all be handled by the Active Directory server, instead of having to manually grant each user permissions in vCenter.  Any ideas what's going on here?

The setup:

External PSC using vCSA

Identity Source added to External PSC

vCenter 6.5 installed on Windows Server 2012 r2 w/ SQL Server 2014

Active Directory group added to "Administrators" group on PSC

Active Directory group added to Permissions tab in vCenter with Administrator Role and Propagate Child Objects enabled.

Also, I've created test groups of both Global and Domain Local security types without success.
