View client and dump files - how to disable them?

I'm a desktop engineer and looking into the situation that Horizon view client 4.4 can generate a lot of dump files. I noticed these files are stored in C:\ProgramData\VMware\VDM\Dumps as well in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\VMware\VDM

 

These files are around 400-600 mb each and one user had about 40 GB of dump files. Another user has about 20 GB of files.

 

Is there a way to limit the number of files generated? Or otherwise, to disable the creation all together?

How to Thin print client printer redirectition from View client.

Is there a supported way to disable a view client from mapping in the default printer to view section? I found KB's out there that would seem like this should work but they don't see to. I don't want to disable this from the guest as there are situation I want the agent to do this functionality but inside the walls of my org I would rather handle local printers via usb redirection.

Invoke REST Operation || vRO connect to another vRO with HTTP_REST plugin

Hi Friends,

 

Customer request to connect client vRO server to new vRO server and run the workflow.

 

So I have connected new vRO server using HTTP_REST plugin and  I have created Rest Operation to execute the workflow.

 

When i try to invoke the Rest Operation , I am getting status code :302. May be i am missing something in content.

 

Can you please help me on this.

 

Note :- I tested same thing in vRO Swagger, able to trigger the workflow (status code 202).  https://192.168.1.23:8281/vco/api/docs/index.html#!/execution-controller/startWorkflowExecutionUsingPOST_3

Cannot setup event subscription for machine provisioning in vRA7.4?

Hi

I install a distributed deployment of vRA7.4 recently and I found there are no sub fields under Data Field when I choose conditions for Event "machine provisioning" topic in the attached.

I don't know what cause it.

Kernel panic in OSX guest on Fusion 10.0.1 when configured for 3 or more CPU's

I have had a lot of kernel panics when booting OSX guests if I configure 3 or more cpus.  It never panics with 1 or 2 cpus, rarely happens with 3 cpus, and almost always happens with 4 or more cpus.  Stragely it does eventually boot after many failed attempts.

 

I don't see the problem on an ESXi server so I'm guessing it may point to a hardware problem on my laptop (Late 2016 15" MBP w/ touchbar), but the machine passes all Apple hardware diagnostics.  Is it possible this a known problem with Fusion?  Is it possible to set cpu affinity to prevent Fusion from using certain cpu cores?  I believe I have a directory full of boot failure logs but I forget where they are written.  Should I attach a bunch of them?

Edit:  The same behavior occurs on Fusion 10.1.0 as well as 10.1.1.  It appears that several other people experience the same issue, so it may indeed be a bug in Fusion.

SSL Connection Timeout Error

Hi everyone!

 

I'm trying to convert CentOS 6 VM from Xen 6 to vCenter 5.5 by VMware Converter Standalone 6.2

Everything is ok but the percentage is always 1%. When I opened the log, I got an error:

 

"error: class Vmacore::Ssl::SSLHandshakeTimeoutException(SSL Exception: Operation was canceled)"

 

After I try to increase SSLHandshakeTimeout in /etc/vmware/hosts/config.xml and /etc/vmware/rhttpproxy/config/xml from default 20000 miliseconds to 120000 miliseconds, the error is still happened. Somebody help me to fix this error, please!

Workstation 14 Pro 14.1.2 build-8497320 Error vmmon driver Version mismatch

Just upgraded to Workstation 14 Pro 14.1.2 build-8497320, which was released on 5/21/2018.

 

When I tried to launch VMware workstation, I got the following error message:

 

VMware Workstation failed to start the VMware Authorization Service. You can try manually starting the VMware Authorization Service. If this problem persists, contact VMware support.

 

Tried manually starting the service, but it would not start.

 

Windows cannot start VMware Authentication Service on Local Computer...Error code 6000009

 

Checked the Application event log, and here is the Error message:

 

     vmauthd Version mismatch with vmmon driver: expecting 330.0, got 308.0

Hosts can disconnect once a day and often reconnect automatically.

Our vm have a multiple hosts disconnect from vCenter Server frequently at random intervals. Hosts can disconnect once a day and often reconnect automatically.

Send an email to creator of VM

Hi guys,

 

I'd like to send an email to the person who creates a VM in Vsphere. We're currently running on 5.5.

 

We have a security group in AD which allows administrative access to the Webconsole. I'd like to send an email to the admins when they create a VM to remind them of certain actions that he or she has to take. I thought about setting up a custom alarm to do this, because I couldn't find a predefined one. In the alarm i'm able to send a notification email, but this email doesn't include the text (reminders especially for our environment) I require. Is there another way of setting this up, for instance through "Run a command" and then point to a script? Have any of you experimented with this or is there an easier solution that I overlooked?

I publish a farm, the OS is Windows Server 2016.

The Farm type is Automated Farm and use View Composer linked clones.

 

But I have a issue:

Error during provisioning: Unable to find folder /View/vm/B-W2016

And: Provisioning on the vCenter Server for this RDS farm has been disabled.

Зависание VM при миграции других машин с этого же хоста

Добрый день!

 

ПО:

VMware ESXi, 6.7.0, 8169922 на трех хостах ProLiant DL360 Gen9

VCSA 6.7.0.11000 Build 8546234 Essentials Plus

 

Проблема:

Есть три VM с ОС Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard. Располагаются на одном хосте. Параллельно с ними работают еще машины на Linux. Если начать миграцию любой машины на другой хост (без смены СХД), то машины на Windows зависают - 0 Гц потребление ЦПУ, полная загрузка по памяти и никакой реакции в консоли. Зависшие машины нельзя перезагрузить или выключить, не помогает даже "kill -9" в консоли ESXi, только ребут всего хоста.

Подскажите, в каких логах что посмотреть, т.к. в логах Windows видно только, что машину аварийно перезагрузили и всё.

How rename vSphere vStandard switch on the vSphere Web Client？

Create a new standard vSwitch on the vSphere Web Client, but, the virtual switch name cannot be named during creation process.

 

After create the vSwitch, how rename the vSwitch on the vSphere Web Client ?

 

Do I must to edit the esx.conf file ?

Can I rename vSphere vStandard switch on the vSphere Web Client？

"Лишние" cp-replica

Добрый день, господа.

Хотел бы спросить вашего совета, касательно моего вопроса, который заключается в следующем.

Во первых пользуемся системой Instant Clone Pool на базе Horizon 7, а так же vsphere 6.5.

Как все мы знаем, работает данная схема таким способом.

Не буду долго расписывать, думаю это и так люди знают.

Суть в том, что в качестве наследства мне остались "не неприкаянные" cp-replica на моем LUN, которые бесполезно занимают место.

Выглядит это таким образом.

Имеем две боевые реплики, по каждой на пул рабочих машин.

Далее лезем внутрь LUN, и видим там реплику которой я ранее не нашел в самой сфере.

Вот как выглядит "боевая" реплика.

 

п.с. в качестве эксперимента попробовал переименовать не используемую реплику, к каким то последствиям фатальным это не привело, но удалять пока что побаиваюсь.

Потому прошу совета более опытных игроков. Спасибо.

VMware Operation Manager Configuring Error

Dear All,

I am going to configure VMware Vrealize Operation manager 6.5.5 on vsphere 6.5. I have click on the new installation given the admin password, give master node name and ntp server address and click on the finish. After that is start configuring the VRO but at the end give the error. Node is not part of cluster. Please also find attached the error snapshot.

vCenter 6.5 VSCA unable to deploy OVF

hello all

 

I migrated my VCSA from 6.0 to 6.5 and now and i have a strange message when i try to deploy an OVA : This version of vcenter server does not support Deploy OVF template using this version of vsphere web client.To deploy OVF template, login with version 6.5.0.0 of vsphere web client.

Of course i already use a 6.5 version like i am connected to vCenter 6.5.

I tryed to to remove stored data, clear cache, change brower, remove CIP 5.5 et 6.0, reboot VCSA and finely change PC.

I tryed with root and administrator@vsphere.local.

Always the same message (popup)


is anybody have a new idea ?

Cannot update, install, or un-install VMware tools for Windows after 10.1.2 update

This issue has been unresolved for at least a month - and I do not see any response - even "We're looking at it."

 

There is a missing path to the files needed to remove the previous .msi file and thus the updated Tools cannot be installed until the previous version is removed.

Mouse disappears in the console

I just upgraded the my vCenter server from 5.5 to 6.5 appliance. Now when I try to use the console some of the console the mouse disappears when moving it into the field where the OS resides. Any ideas
