We were quite happy with (tuned) VDR, which is unfortunately not supported any more in vSphere 5.1, and we are literally scared to move to VDP since there are so many open issues (we wouldn't like to be a beta tester 
) ... so we are looking to some other backup solution that is able to replace all the functionalities that VDR has (except the one that is for free 
). I would like to know if there is any kind of pay-as-you-go or pay-per-use licensing model for any commercial backup solution out there? We are mostly a service provider company, utilizing the VMware VSPP program which enable us to use VMware licenses on a pay-per-use licensing model for our customers ... we would like to get a backup solution on a similar licensing model (for example per number of VM's being backed-up or per total size of storage being used by VM's and/or their backups). Does anybody know if there is such a product out there?
