I'm working on building up my first VMmark 2.5 testing environment and I'm stuck on the stage of building a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP2 VM. I start off with a Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP1 installation ISO from MSDN, install that, load the standalone SP2 update, and start to load in various Windows updates. At that time the 4GB VHD starts to explode. I've tried removing the pagefile to free up space, stagger updates and delete the uninstall folders as they appear, but I keep running into a problem of lack of space.
For those of you who have made it past this step, what did you do? It has to be possible based on the vast amount of published results but getting down to the fine details it seems that some trickery is at play to fulfill the goal of installing all updates while still maintaining a disk size of 4GB.
