Hello,
I'm hoping a noob can get a little guidance here.. ;-)
I ordered a t420 from Dell that had a esxi 5.1 image placed on an embeded SD module.
I think I may have had them do too small of a module however.. it is a 1GB card.
So, is that image too small for production purposes? For some reason I thought this was going to simply be the .iso and that
I could then install esxi on the raid volume when the server got here, but on first boot of the server, esxi booted up... so I think
esxi is installed on the 1GB SD (not sure though).
Second question, I connected to the hypervisor with vSphere client and went to set up a data store. It looked wierd to me.
The server is supposed to be set up with RAID5 using a PERC raid controller. I have 4 - 1TB drives. What I was expecting
to see is 1 volume around 3 TB's in the data store config. Instead, I see:
1.8 TB volume
980 GB volume
That equals 3 TB's, but why two separate drives? Is that a sign that I need to check the RAID config on the card?
Thanks!
Donovan
