Hi
I assume that the LowFreeThreshold value is determined by using the 'MemMinFreePct' setting, because both values are about the threshold at which memory reclamation techniques as ballooning, compression and so start. Is it really necessary to include this counter then? If you could just calculate it yourself? So do the setting and the counter have something to do with each other ?
For example, when having a system with 64 GB machine memory and the MemMinFreePct set on 5 %, the value I get for the LowFreeThreshold counter is ~ 3259 MB. Although, I'd expect something like 1148 MB, given the sliding scale ... (0-4: 205; 4-12: 246; 12-28: 328; 28-64: 369 => summation: 205+246+328+369 = 1148 MB!)
The funny thing is, when I use the calculation method for versions older then vSphere 5 (just 5 % of 64 GB), I get 3277 MB, which is more or less equal to the value given by the LowFreeThreshold counter.
Am I overlooking something here?
Thanks on advance!
