My "front desk" office 2011, 27" iMac , partitioned with Snow Leopard on an 800 MB partition, and Lion on a 200 MB partition, has been flawlessly running my PC practice management and PC Dental imaging apps, (besides the usual PC mail, net, remote control, & utilities that is installed). I copied the same Vista VM from Snow to Lion with Fusions support, leaving the Snow partiton as the emergency OS, should Lion have issues. This Mac is WLAN'ed, as the client, to the "main" Dell Server in my treatment room, so it only runs the network version of the PC apps; all the data is safely contained in the Dell.
Both partitions would work flawlessly for months at a time, until Vista would corrupt, requiring reinstallations of working Time Machine backups.
The last Time Machine backup fried the iMacs HD upon reinstallation: It installed a working Snow Leopard, a working Fusion, and allof the working Mac apps & Docs on the lions partition, AS WELL AS, a corrupted Vista VM. Windows could not repair itself, when I tried safe reboots, etc.
Time machine also installed on the (the original SN partition), 800 MB partition, a mirror image of everything now installed on the lion partition, with a non bootable corrupted Snow OS.This partition now does not mount. At first, it did, and , when chosen as the Start Up Disk, resulted in a BLACK Screen, No startup, and then became unmountable.
Help Question: Everything is working on the 200 mb partiton, except there is a corrupted Vista Virtual disk. I installed a new Vista VM from my Vista OS Disk. It opened fine, but the PC apps are not accessible, (present), to open. How do I migrate the apps, their prefs, and their other specific file needs, from the corrupted VM, to the new VM? I was able to open the original VM's disk, by right clicking on it, "to view the contents", saw the list of folders, but have no idea what to do next. URGENT HELP REQUESTED!!
