The title is not the whole story, but it is the root of the question at hand. For an esxi server, with 20, to 30 vm's a mix of windows, and linux, what is the best stripe size, to achieve the best performance under load?
the whole story, if interested:
We are using stormagic to turn local storage into a mirrored iscsi target, where the megaraid is passed through to the stormagic svsan vm using directpath.
There will be multiple raid configurations. It could be an 8 drive raid5, or a 24 drive raid 6. I know vmfs uses a 128k block size. should the stripe size match?
