I am seeing some weird networking issues within our VMware environment. WE currently have 3 ESX hosts running Vsphere 5.1
For example. I have 2 servers that are on the same ESX host and on the same network. They can ping the
default gateway and other resources on the network, but cannot ping each other.
If I reboot either the machines or the ESX host they will be able to ping each
other again for an inconsistent amount of time, then it goes away. These are
the two mobile vpn entry points. They appear to work fine other than that, with
VPN connections able to come in through both of them. However it’s as if
communication between the 2 hosts is severed.
I have seen this also on our
network monitor. It lost comms to one of our switches. The switch was online,
functioning, and could ping everything else on that network segment except the
NMS server. The server was the same way. It could get to everything else on
that segment except for that switch. As soon as I moved the server to a new ESX
host, it worked. After rebooting the ESX host it was not working from, and
moved the server back, it worked fine.
