Advice needed: Player and native file systems

Hi, all --

We have an application that we'd like to deliver in VMware Player. This would work best if it could open files in the native file system (i.e, on the host OS).

We're running lots of VMware Workstation but have no experience with Player.

Does Player have the ability to access native file systems directly (e.g., in an application's file open dialog box)? If so, I can justify spending time to dig deeper into Player.
