Hi VMware gurus out there,
I've read most of the discussions around the pros and cons of pcipassthrough for storage but have a strange one for you.
ESXi 5.1 (dell customised), all firmware, bios, etc up to date.
ESXi lets me passthrough the Perc controller just fine. The Vmware guest sees the disk (at least the linux installer sees it) and I can even install Linux on the passed through disk presented..
However, I can't find any way of booting it..
The guest just ignores it in the boot sequence. If I try an EFI boot, it sees the disk (yay) but the disk isn't EFI and I make it boot there either..
Anyone come across this before? I'm wondering if the H710P (in the Dell 720s) would be a better shot....
thanks !!
