No recognition of (usb) removable devices on my computer/account

Hello everyone,

I'm quite new with using VMware Workstation 8.06 and I have the stumbled upon (for me) the most understandable problem and I was hoping that someone would like to help me or give me some pointers to look at because i'm clueless.

What happend?

I was very happy the sun was shining and everything went well until I noticed suddenly that the VMware Workstation didn't recognized my USB devices anymore (Speechmike III, Logictech headset, External HD drive, etc) anymore). Normally I can remember if I did something strange or installed something but nothing came up. What did happened after I discovered my devices weren't detected is that my USB/VGA port is replaced (because of a broken USB port) and the bios was upgraded, but as I stated this has (I guess) nothing to do with it. So what to do next?

The research

As you may like know this is the setup:

- Dell laptop E6520

- VM Workstation 8.0.6

- My user account is part of a domain.

At first I thought it must be a configuration somewhere so checked all the settings I know but that didn't changed anything. Then after consulting our administrator we decided to re-install the computer, that didn't work out either. Then we tried the following:

Is it the VM?

- VM-One wasn't working on my computer but did work on a colleagues.

- VM-Two made by a colleague was working on his laptop but not on mine (same computers).

- VM-Three I made a fresh machine and that didn't work either.

Conclusion it's not the VM.

Is it the computer?

- Logged in with my account and non of the devices were found.

- Logged in with an administrator account suddenly all the devices are found (<-- ?!?!?)

- Logged in with a colleagues account and non of the devices were found

Conclusion with the hardware is nothing wrong, so maybe a account setting

Is it my account?

- Logged in with my account on my colleagues computer and everything works fine.

- Logged in with  administrator on my colleagues computer and everything works fine.

- Logged in with my colleagues account on my colleagues computer and everything works fine.

Conclusion the account has nothing to do with it.

The problem

The weirdest thing is that it only works with the Administrator account and not with my or any other account. Although every computer is the same in the office it works everywhere accept for mine. And not to forget it did work..

So kinda clueless in here...

Thanks for reading! Kind regards,
