Hi, I made a change on a DC on Friday evening, turning down what used to be my DHCP server, and was one of two DNS servers. I recreated the DHCP scope on a DC which is running as a VM on ESX, and that DC also was my secondary DNS server. Now, I am having issues connecting to one of my ESX hosts. In the vi client it says "not responding". All the VM's which reside on that host appear to be functioning correctly, but they are responding somewhat slow. If I try to log into that host directly using the vi client I get an error which says "VMware infrastructure client could not establish the initial connection with server "xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx". Details: the server took too long to respond"
So,I believe this to be a DNS issue, as the ESX host which I cannot reach was set to use the DNS server which is no longer functioning. Can someone tell me how I can change the DNS settings in the ESX host, via command line? As I am not able to get into vi client to make the change, I think this may be my option.
Other suggestions of what could be causing the problem are welcome too. Thanks.
