Workstation 9, Network Editor Does not recognize USB-Ethernet??

Hey all, hope this is easy.  I am running Workstation 9, and I've added a usb-ethernet converter to my host computer (Cisco).  My host machine (Windows 7, 64-bit Pro, Dell M6600) identifies the usb-ethernet adaptor and I can use it locally.  I've surfed the web and have added it to my local network with a static address had have used it to access my ESXi box.  So I have confirmed functionality within my host environment.

For reference, details of the converter: ASIX AX88772 USB2.0 to Fast Ethernet Adapter

I also have an ExpressCard Ethernet adaptor that I've been using for the past 2 years with VMware Workstation, this works without issue. I can access it within the Virtual Network Editor and configure as I like. Makes me happy.

For unknown reasons to me, the Virtual Network Editor cannot find this USB adaptor as a selection (I typically use bridged connections and pick from my ExpressCard or Local Ethernet adaptor, I'd like the USB adaptor to be a 3rd option).  Anyone have suggestions?  Thanks!
