I have 3 hosts in a cluster. Currently my VMs have swap partitions on an nfs mounted drive which is where the VM files and disks live. The NFS drive enables the machines to move from one host to another.
I think having swap space on the NFS mounts is a slow option. I am looking at better options.
One option I thought of was setting the VM swap space to local drives on the hosts which would be faster but this I think would preclude them moving.
Another option would be to give the hosts a large swap space each on their local disks and give the VMs a large amount of memory and no or little swap space and let the hosts handle the swap.
Is there a better way to do this? Is there a best practise for this?
