We have a program at our school for which the teachers use applications that are in three categories: (1) Installs completely from the CD, and the CD is not needed to run the application, (2) Installs partially from the CD, and the CD is then needed to run the application, (3) Does not install at all, but runs completely from the CD.
I tried to create a thin app from a CD in the first category, however it did not turn out as expected. On the VM it installed perfectly and worked as expected. After I ran the Post Scan, I also included creating an MSI so I could use AD Group Policy to push it out. MSIDefaultInstallAllUsers=1, MSIRequireElevatedPrivileges=-, MSIStreaming=1. I had to add Adobe Reader as a plugin, but the pdf that the CD installs did not come over, it should appear on the Start Menu with two other items that do appear correctly. Also, there is a feature which opens in Internet Explorer, and the title bar appears to be in Japanese or some such Asian language, but that does not appear on the direct install.
I'd really prefer not to have to install these CDs on each of the instructors' laptops individually, but I am unable to figure out how to make this work. Is it possible to create thinapps in this situation? Thank you.
