Ideal solution would be:
I have specialized software on my computer which I would like to use without installing it on the remote machine.
Right now I have to because the software uses the ethernet port on the remote machine to do a job the software is used for.
1) Is there a solution out there to simply connect to a remote computer and make use of its ethernet port remotely?
Someone mentioned VMWare Workstation to me last night. This may be completely off-base.
So this remote computer is connected to another computer via an Ethernet cable, but not for the internet, only data.
For me to be able to connect to it, the remote computer needs to maintain a concurrent Wifi connection as well.
I use Teamviewer to control it.
2) If 1) above is no possible, I am back to my current setup which consists of me installing the software I need on that remote machine. But my problem is that it doesn't seem possible to maintain both WiFi and Ethernet connections on at the same time.
Please correct me/ explain how if I am wrong.
How can Workstation be useful to me in these scenarios?
Thank you in advance for your help. I have been looking all over for over a week.
