What is the best practice for locating the scratchconfig location in ESXi 5.1? Is there a lot of traffic that goes from the ESXi host to the scratchconfig location so that you would want it on fast SAN Fibre storage? Or can you put it on slower SAN storage such as an NFS share? What is the typical size of a scratchconfig directorys structure for an ESXi 5.1 host? How can I specify the scratchconfig location in a host profile? If I am directing logs to a syslog server, do I need a scratchconfig location other than in the server's RAM?
