Off-site backup with VDP?

So currently we have vSphere Essentials Plus, with 3 ESXi 5.1 host machines, a dedicated vCenter Server and a ReadyNAS 3200. I'm using VMware Data Protection to do backups of each of the VMs each day, however the appliance is also running from the ReadyNAS 3200.

As an additional disaster-recovery step, I need all of the VDP created restore points to be available on a little ReadyNAS Pro 4, that will eventually be hosted off-site, in case of fire / flooding / etc.

How do I go about achieving this? The VDP appliance can only backup to it's own internal appliance storage. Doing an Rsync of the entire ReadyNAS 3200 vm directory not only seems like a massive waste of time (it'll take ages), it also probably(?) wont be a working backup as the files are constantly changing whilst they are still being backed up (I believe I'm correct in saying that?).

So how does one do off-site backups!?
