Up to VMware Workstation 6 an update to the next higher major or minor version has need one reboot, Since version 7 (also with v8, v9 I havn't tried up to now) it needs always two reboots. This is unaceptable and so I dismiss all update information in meantime. Updates of VMware Fusion needs no reboot but Workstation on Windows 2, who tests such nonsensense? And BTW for minor updates exists MSP resp. MSU packages wich are realy updates, to do a minor update by uninstall the 8.0.n and do a full install of 8.0.n+x is IMO a senseless methode for such update with additional site effects, e.g. each time the manually changed settings of the VMware NICs are lost. I think I should not upgrade to 9 instead I should give VirtualBox a try.
